Gone are the days when basic necessities were limited to food, clothing, and shelter. Today, there’s a new essential in our lives—the internet. Sounds surprising? Maybe not. After all, can you imagine a world without social media, video calls, or binge-watching your favorite Netflix series?
But it’s not just about having access to the internet; speed is just as important. Remember the days when downloading a 1GB file took an hour? Now, it takes only minutes. Internet technology has advanced at an astonishing pace, and India is currently experiencing the rollout of 5G.
However, telecom giant Reliance has already set its sights on the future—6G. Yes, while 5G is still making its way across the country, Reliance is gearing up to introduce an even more advanced network that could transform India’s digital landscape.
In the coming years, we could witness a technological revolution like never before. AI-driven robots may become commonplace in industries, and communication networks may evolve dramatically with the introduction of 6G. What once seemed like science fiction might soon become a reality.
But the big question remains—Is India ready for 6G? And will Reliance dominate the telecom market with it?
To answer this, we must first assess the current state of 5G in India. Network infrastructure plays a critical role in implementing telecom advancements, and a nationwide 6G rollout will require massive investment.
Currently, out of approximately 2.9 lakh Base Transceiver Stations (BTSs) in India, only 5 lakh are dedicated to 5G. This highlights a significant challenge—building the necessary infrastructure for 6G will be a time-consuming and capital-intensive process.
While India is on the path to embracing 6G, its widespread adoption may take longer than expected, considering even 5G is yet to reach every corner of the country.
